Which Suisun City Records Are Open
No single office holds every name-bearing file for Suisun City. The city handles its own administrative and police requests. Solano County keeps recorded land documents, parcel files, county vital records, local court data, and custody information. State agencies provide statewide vital, prison, business, license, and registry searches. Access ranges from a free index to an eligibility-limited certified copy.
| Record group | Keeper | Web starting point | Access route |
|---|---|---|---|
| City department files | Suisun City Clerk | GovQA request portal | Online or mailed CPRA request |
| Deeds, liens, easements, maps | Solano Recorder | Official Records Search | Free index; copies by mail or in person |
| Parcels and assessments | Solano Assessor | Public Access Now and Accela | Free web lookup |
| Fictitious business names | Solano County Clerk | FBN Internet Search | Search by name, file number, or filed date |
| Court cases | Solano Superior Court | Public Portal | Account required; certified copies from the division |
| Birth, death, marriage | Recorder, Public Health, or CDPH | No county public name index located | Application and copy eligibility rules |
| Jail and state custody | Solano Sheriff or CDCR | In-Custody Search or CIRIS | Public informational fields |
California law also closes or limits sensitive material. Confidential court cases and documents do not appear in the court portal. Juvenile, adoption, sealed, protected voter, and some vital files have separate rules. DMV personal information is not an open name directory. The full voter file is also not casual public data; its special access path belongs with the detailed Suisun City voter records rules.
The Solano County FBN search is the separate county route for a trade name. It accepts an FBN name, file number, or filed-date range. The county says an FBN statement remains effective for five years, but the research did not establish the database's first year or a current copy fee.
Suisun City Recorder Index Access
The Solano County Official Records Search is the main grantor and grantee index for recorded documents connected to Suisun City. It can reveal that a person or business appears on a deed, lien, easement, map filing, release, or other instrument. The county says the index is searchable by name, date, document number, and related document fields. It does not display document images.
| Search field | Control | Use and format |
|---|---|---|
| Document Type or Filing Code | Dropdown | Limits the search to a class of recorded instrument |
| By Name | Text fields | Grantor or grantee; individual or business format |
| Document Date | From and To dates | Optional date range in month, day, year form |
| Document Number | Number range | Beginning and ending document numbers |
| APN or Searchable Field | Text | Connects a parcel clue to recorded documents |
| Book and Page | Dropdown and text | Book type, book number, and page number where applicable |
Results may show the document date, filing code or type, document number, book and page, and names such as grantor and grantee. An index hit proves only that a name was indexed to an instrument. Read the copy before drawing a conclusion about the party or the legal effect of the filing.
The Solano Recorder copy and access page shows the online cutoff, office fallback, and copy charges.
The captured county view makes the line between index research and the paid copy path clear.
Suisun City Records Before 1955
Online reach has a firm local boundary. Solano says users may search official records back to 1955 through the web index or office computers. Documents from 1954 and earlier require research in the Recorder's office research area. That divide is important for an older Suisun City parcel, estate, family line, or former resident because a blank online result does not mean no record exists.
The fallback is geographic as well as technical. Suisun City is not the county seat. Recorder research takes place in Fairfield, where the county keeps the older official record path. State archives, library collections, and genealogy groups can help identify names or dates first, but the Recorder remains the source for an official recorded-document copy.
- Index
- A list of record references and names, not the full recorded instrument.
- Image
- A view of the actual document; Solano does not show these in its online index.
- Certified copy
- A copy authenticated by the custodian for uses that require official proof.
- Custodian
- The public office responsible for keeping and releasing a record.
Note: Search spelling variants and business names before moving an older-record inquiry to the Fairfield research area.
Suisun City Property Records Routes
Property information is divided among the Recorder, Assessor, Tax Collector, and GIS systems. The Recorder indexes deeds and other instruments. The Assessor's Accela lookup offers Address, Parcel Information, Property Owner, and Record Information modes. Public Access Now emphasizes parcel number, street address, and real estate mapping. The Tax Collector searches by PIN or property address, while the Parcel Viewer supplies boundaries, roads, city limits, and address-point context.
A parcel number links the systems without turning them into one database. The basic record trail is address to parcel number, parcel to assessment or tax entry, and parcel or owner name to the Recorder index. A situs address is the land's location. A mailing address is where notices are sent and may be different. Neither should be treated as stand-alone proof of identity.
The Solano Accela property lookup provides the owner and parcel search modes. People who mainly need directory-style paths can compare the separate Suisun City people directories without repeating the access-law steps.
Suisun City Court Records Access
Suisun City cases route to the Superior Court of California, County of Solano. Its portal requires account registration before case-data searching. A user supplies an email address, password, name, phone number, and agreement to the terms where required. Case Number is the court's easiest search field. Last Name, First Name, and CompanyName can also be used, with at least two characters, plus a filed-date range.
After a search, the blue case number opens tabs with case information. Confidential cases and documents are absent. Electronic access is not the official court record unless the court electronically certifies it under California Rule of Court 2.504(b). A certified copy must come from the proper court division. The portal says case information is updated daily, but access still depends on case type and legal restrictions.
Solano expanded remote access for specified parties and attorneys in 2024, and attorney e-filing became mandatory in civil, family, and probate cases in 2025. Those changes affect filing and enhanced access, not the public status of a confidential file.
Suisun City Vital Records Copies
Birth, death, and marriage certificates for Suisun City events are county or state records, not city files. Solano Public Health Vital Statistics handles current-year and prior-year birth and death records by appointment or online order. Its process uses an application, photo ID, email submission, and online payment. Older local events route to the Solano Recorder, which issues records for Solano County events since 1845. CDPH Vital Records supplies the statewide path. For divorces from 1962 through June 1984, CDPH can issue only a certificate of record, not the decree. A decree comes from the court where the case was filed.
California Health and Safety Code section 103526 separates authorized and informational certified copies. Both are copies of the original record, but an informational copy is marked as not valid to establish identity. Confidential marriages are stricter under Family Code section 511. The public cannot view the record, and without a court order the clerk may disclose only whether a marriage record exists, not its date.
The Solano Recorder vital records page explains the local certificate categories and county event coverage.
The county view helps distinguish a certificate request from a public name index, which was not located for these records.
Suisun City Records Custodian Offices
The right counter depends on which government created the file. City Hall accepts municipal requests. Most land and assessment work for a Suisun City address goes to the Solano County complex in Fairfield. Court data stays with the Superior Court portal and the division that owns the case. Check office hours before travel because Suisun City staff hours are split around midday and City Hall is closed Friday.

Suisun City Custody Records Lookups
The Solano Sheriff In-Custody Search accepts at least the first three letters of a first or last name, using letters only. Its results are informational and are not an official Sheriff's Office record. The separate booking logs cover people arrested and booked into the county jail during the last seven days. Those logs are compiled in 24-hour periods and refreshed nightly under Government Code section 7923.610.
State prison custody belongs in CDCR's CIRIS system. Public fields can include name, CDCR number, age, current location, commitment counties, admission date, and parole hearing information. California's Megan's Law registry is narrower: only registrants subject to public disclosure under state law appear. It must not be read as a list of every person required to register.
The California Megan's Law search states the disclosure limits before a search begins.
The notice is part of the record context and should be read before using any displayed information.
Suisun City Public Records Fees
Inspection, a plain copy, and a certified copy are different products. Suisun City lists photocopies at $0.10 per page and says it may waive the charge at its discretion for a request under 50 pages. Solano recorded-document copies cost $9 for the first page, $1 for each added page, and $5 for certification. Regular and certified recorder copies are available by mail or in person.
Vital certificates use their own schedule. Solano Public Health lists $36 for a birth certificate and $28 for a death certificate within its current-year and prior-year scope. A birth registration may carry an extra $20 expedite charge. Court, county clerk, recorder vital, and CDPH charges should be checked on the live office form when the research did not capture a settled fee.
Pay for the right item. Use a free index to identify the exact record first. Order certification only when the receiving office or legal task requires it.
Suisun City Deed Notice Records
Solano's Recording Notification Program adds an unusual safeguard to the property record system. The Recorder mails a notice when someone records a deed, quitclaim deed, or deed of trust against a property. It is a mailed notification, not an electronic alert. The notice gives an owner a chance to review a filing and question a document that may not be legitimate.
The program does not replace the deed index, title review, or a fraud report. It also does not prevent a document from being recorded. Its value is prompt awareness. A recipient can compare the mail notice with the indexed filing, obtain a copy from the Recorder, and contact the appropriate authorities if fraud is suspected.
The Solano Recording Notification Program explains which three recorded instruments trigger the mailed notice.
Note: A commercial deed-copy offer may cost far more than the official Solano Recorder fee, so check the county source first.
Request Suisun City Public Records
The California Public Records Act, Government Code section 7920.000 et seq., permits every person to inspect agency records unless an exemption applies. Suisun City accepts requests through GovQA or by mail to the City Clerk. The city asks for a date range, the department if known, and a clear description of identifiable records. Under Government Code section 7922.535, the local determination period is generally 10 calendar days. A determination is not always the same day as production.
Police incident records use a separate Suisun Police request channel. Not every call produces a police report, but each call receives a CAD incident number in YYMMDD#### form. A person involved in the event can use the online form or the downloadable Report/Incident Request Form.
- Identify the custodian. Send city department material to Suisun City, but route deeds, court files, certificates, and custody records to their actual keepers.
- Check the relevant index or frequently requested records first. Record a document number, case number, parcel number, date, or department when one is available.
- Submit through GovQA or mail the City Clerk. Describe the record, date span, subject, and likely department without asking the office to answer a broad question.
- Review the determination. If an exemption or withholding applies, read the stated basis and narrow the scope when that can reach the needed nonexempt material.
- Choose inspection, a plain copy, or a certified copy and pay only the fee that applies to that format.
The Suisun City GovQA request portal accepts and tracks the municipal request.
The portal view confirms the online channel, while mailed requests remain available through the City Clerk.
Suisun City Records Privacy Boundaries
Open government does not erase privacy law. A custodian may withhold or redact material covered by a CPRA exemption or another confidentiality statute. Court files may be sealed or confidential. Vital certificates use statutory eligibility classes. Confidential marriages are closed to public viewing. Protected voter data and Safe at Home addresses receive special treatment. The public court portal also omits confidential cases and documents.
Use each result for a lawful personal or civic purpose. Never use a public address, custody entry, court reference, or registry disclosure to stalk, harass, threaten, or intimidate a person. A name match can be wrong, and an index can lack the detail needed to tell two people apart. Confirm the record with its custodian and read the actual document when the distinction matters.
Lawful use. Public access does not grant permission to harm anyone. Follow each custodian's use limits and respect every redaction, closure, and confidentiality rule.
